Ted McCaffrey has owned the 65-foot Aces High since spring 2001 .Despite owning the boat for almost 15 years ,it was just a few seasons that he filled the lobster tank for the first time .
“The first couple of seasons I owned the boat weren´t great catch-wise ,so I thought I would never fill it “,McCaffrey says.”When it finally happened that´s something I ´ll never forget “.
Aces High is a working vessel and McCaffrey ,like many fishermen ,only brings the family out aboard for the Forth of July fireworks and the blessing of the fleet .McCaffrey and family have participated in the blessing of the fleet since 2001, taking the award for best decoarted boat in 2010.
After 15 seasons with the Aces High ,McCaffrey says he´s had the chance to upgrade a little bit every year ,so “It´s really dialed in at this point .”
Most of the work on the boat has been completed over the years while still in the water , with a good chunk of work being done to replace the old steel with stainless steel.
